Written for the Pandemic Playlist #1 The Whistle and the Train I’ve been sitting on a Hillside waiting for the rain I’ve been up and down for the whistle and the train ain’t that the way it goes with a favorite thing? It’s a pocket of joy a favorite thing? don’t call it a sin nah don’t call it a sin ain’t that the way of a favorite thing? You’re slow to let it go and leave the world behind Don’t you watch the news and heed the flashing signs Who can you really trust, traveling alone Someone off in the distance is fingering their phone Face ink monograph Tattoo of the past Not every pigeon makes it home Home is a heavy blanket warm Home is where you taste sweet lies Home to rub the belly of the beast And carry on, carry on I’ve been sitting on a Hillside waiting for the rain I’ve been up and down for the whistle and the train Maybe I’ll let go Sing a different song All things must pass away nothing stays for long don’t call life a sin it’s my favorite thing There’s a time to let things go ain’t that the way things go Ain’t that the way

Round 04:40
Round In the beginning I took a look around and it was good The birds and the bees the rivers and trees as it should Ran through the forest bare footin on rocks and grass Stargazing clueless how fast my innocence would pass Dragons and angels twisting in the clouds Dirt faced kids wrestling on the ground Build a new fort capture the flag Hide behind the waterfall Oh I know when I was young the world was round Yes I know when I was young the world was round Now I listen but I can’t hear Noises and voices spittin in my ear Flat screens flicker in every room I watch but I can’t see Nervous in a line the antidote has been prescribed Buddha and the doctors say sit still if you want your love to shine Hearts beat harder we all take a lonely breath In the end the love you make is all that’s left Dragons and Angels twisting in the clouds silver haired soldiers scared to go to town Did we make this a better world or have we all fallen flat But I know when I was young the world was round Harvest moon waxing gold red sky evening sun slippin down Jumped from the heavens and landed with a mighty roar Yes I know when I was young the world was more the world was more

Cloud Hidden 05:58
Cloud Hidden Morning Stutters Cold Feet across the floor The faucet sputters and those rosy fingers hesitate Waiting for another, ghostly form to rise reluctant Wary of the world I have to face The working world, weave my way through the creeping crud It spits and swirls, and swallows up the day When I’m tired, beaten down and uninspired I climb the hill and brightly slip away When we climb above the tree tops what do we see? The city looks like a matchbox town and there’s a hawk on a rising breeze Better yet to keep on climbing a little further on O to be cloud hidden whereabouts unknown On the path, step by step you earn the right To take a breath, to open up your eyes A simple task, to find the strength to keep your balance Over rocks and roots, old bones up to the sky When we climb above the tree tops what do we see? The city looks like a matchbox town and there’s a hawk on a rising breeze Better yet to keep on climbing a little further on O to be cloud hidden whereabouts unknown Head for home, a little tired a little stronger It’s good to know, it’s all downhill from here A fire will burn, through the night until the dreams come Sing the songs and let the mountains hear When we climb above the tree tops what do we see? The city looks like a matchbox town and there’s a hawk on a rising breeze Better yet to keep on climbing a little further on O to be cloud hidden whereabouts unkown

Safe Harbor 05:00
Safe Harbor Walking on the water in Wellfleet harbor My own true love hand in hand Shoeless and careless and laughing we knife the nights' bright oyster open wide taste the sweet liquor smell the salt air pearls flung out into the midnight sky a billion bright lights but all I can see is you Don't we all deserve safe harbor a warm embrace on a summer's night Don't we all deserve an ocean of love under starry skies Rolling through the hills in the Catskill mountains Trying to find Parnassus Lane singin out loud remembering the words to Cripple Creek and Crazy Man The spring is muddy The spring runs deep The basement hums electricity The music comes easy footsteps are echoing there Don't we all deserve a Big Pink house music rings out through the night friends hold you closer and close is the love as we dance under starry skies Close is the love as we dance under stars spread across the sky Who do we think that we are to deserve all of this Tomorrow will come and disaster may find us unprepared Who do we think that we are when we ask to be spared Hold my hand My sweet child Through fires we'll walk unafraid Keep close my love as around us the bonfires rage Naked in the water ‘neath the salty sky My own true love a gentle wave She’s brilliant and warm, dives deep in the night Where meeker hearts are afraid to go I offer my soul for your sweet kisses You hold the sky to your tender breast I’ll trust in your heaven all I can see is you Don’t we all deserve safe harbor a warm embrace on a summer's night Don’t we all deserve an ocean of love under starry skies

Swimming in the Stars Swimming in the Stars This Lake is all we need on a sweet August night To float in the Milky Way oh babe I’ll drift through the heavens with you The waters dark and warm there’s no one else around No one will ever see us as our feel lift off the ground There’s music in the distance at the roadhouse there’s a band No one could sing a song more beautiful or grand than Swimming in the Stars This Lake is all we need on a sweet August night To float in the Milky Way oh babe I’ll drift through the heavens with you A field of scattered diamonds from far away suns The clouds have surely parted for you my precious one Your skin is silk to touch the wonder in your eyes The universe is singing the song is you alive Meteors whistling by but only I can hear A wish is wasted on me because I with you my dear Blanket wrapped together and breathing oh so slow The starlight is a feast a table set a glow Some days will be forgotten, but I have to say This night is just too perfect to ever fade away Swimming in the Stars This Lake is all we need on a perfect August night To float in the Milky Way oh babe I’ll drift through the heavens with you drift through the heavens drift through the heavens With you

Last Confession Forgive me father for I have sinned….again…and again…and again All the best intentions when I arose this morning I swore I’d change my ways I felt as if reborn Get thee behind me Satan my soul ain’t no bargain don’t be waitin. It’s true I’ve been a sinner and I have loved the sinnin. Topped off every night with food and wine and wimmin closed the bar, walked sideways to the car god knows how I ever got this far Forgive me father for I have sinned… again…and again…and again Wrestlin with my demons but they always win again and again and again Eve was eating apples and chatting up a snake Gotta love those bad girls they're such delicious bait. I admit I have chased a few. But Eve was framed and I think I was too! A little bit of larceny hidden in my heart service with a smile while I fix your cart there’s gold in your pocket that I need. Three X wives and little mouths to feed. Forgive me father for I have sinned again…and again…and again Wrestlin with my demons but they always win again and again and again If you kick a hornets nest be prepared to run if you flirt with danger you’re probably gonna get stung. You think I’d learn to run away from trouble I go skippin back there on the double. Yes we all are sinners No one here’s a saint. We don’t need forgiveness just a toke and a drink. My last Confession’s won’t be boring everybody loves a naughty story Forgive me father for I have sinned again…and again…and again Wrestlin with my demons but they always win again and again and again again and again and again again and again and again Forgive me father for I have sinned

Tuning Fork Eating with a tuning fork Drinking down the gravity waves Naked in your cup of tea She pours you more Standing in the sticky sky Nowhere to fall No up No down No sides There is no end for me Inside Out can't you see It never started it will always be Outside in for you and me Spoonful of Pablo dreams Mellotronic symphonies smile Cannonball cracks a joke And Reach is home Pockets full of honey Buckets full of trouble Either way You taste so sweet There is no end for me Inside Out can't you see It never started it will always be Outside in for you and me

Hopeless Case How many songs have been written in this world a lonely boy waiting for his girl My heart is searching across the many miles I listen for your voice, I’m looking for your smile How many hours, till I can hold you till I can soothe you and touch your face How many words can I string together to sing to no one I’m a hopeless case without you I’m a hopeless case without you My mind is restless in the hours before the dawn I tossed and I turned, everything felt wrong So I rise up to write a page or two contemplate what it is to be with you You make love easy you bring me lightness you give us laughter walking on the sands You take my hand so strong and pleasing hurry home, be with me again How many hours, till I can hold you till I can soothe you and touch your face How many words can I string together, to sing to no one I’m a hopeless case without you I’m a hopeless case without you How many songs have been written in this world a lonely boy waiting for his girl
